WEST END - HALFMOON BAY |
| |
Half Moon Bay is well known as a place to have fun day or night. Although the sand is not as glamourous as that of sister West Bay, it provides a lot more entertainment than just laying there soaking up the rays. There is great snorkeling outside the reef and either side of the channel entrance (Take caution when crossing the channel for boat traffic is common). Halfmoon Bay is also the location of Roatan's yearly fishing tournament which brings great crowds, energy and boats of all sizes. If you choose to jump off the dock outside the yellow beach house as many of the locals do...do so at your own risk. Many of the diving operations are run from the docks as well diver training for beginners.

MARBELLA BAY BEACH |
| |
Marbella Beach, what has become one of the more private beaches around. This beach is stunning to say the least and very few people around, if you see any at all. Located within the grounds of Marbella Bay Development which has been on the back burner for at least two years. This is not located in the most easy to get to places as it is located down a dirt/gravel Corazal road about 15 minutes. There are no ammenities in sight and not exactly a spot you would go to unless you were a resident. None the less, a beautiful spot.
PALMETTO BAY |
| |
Palmetto Beach is located within the Eco Resort of Palmetto Bay Plantation. A beautiful bay with untouched coral reefs, Miles of auburn/white sand, and stunning sunsets. Usually the only people who are able to use this beach are guests of the resort or you may also use amenties if you have lunch at the restaurant. Mind the No-see-ums, they can be relentless here.
TURQUOISE BAY |
| |
Turquoise Bay is a beach located within this all inclusive Resort directed towards visitors from Italy or Canada. The white sand is beautiful and white, and the snorkeling out by the reef is stunning. Their are many activities to enjoy here, but much like all other resorts, it is good Karma to become a patron.
FANTASY ISLAND |
| |
Fantasy Island is another all inclusive resort targeted at Italian and Canadian tourists with many amenities to choose from. Fantasy island has been developed on the windward side of Roatan which allows for those wonderful cooling tradewinds. Much like all other resorts, it is good Karma to become a patron.

PARROT TREE LAGOON |
| |
Parrot Tree is an idea that was not exactly thought all the way through. In general, Parrot Tree development is a ghost town other than a few nice events they put on each year such as the Shrimp festival etc. The lagoon looks more appealing than it really is, because once you step foot in the waters, the sand beneath your feet feels more like silt and full of crab holes. There are very few amenities to be found.
PAYA BAY |
| |
Paya Bay, well and far gone from everything. Just the place many of us Expats love to visit to get away from the Western part of the island for some quiet rejuvenation time. One of the most picturesque areas of the island, Paya Bay also has a name sake resort. Very standard amenities and relatively rustic, but exactly what many of the local residents enjoy once in a while. Paya Bay is located only a few miles short of the Eastern end of Roatan. In rainy season, definitely a 4-wheel drive vehicle is wise.

CAMP BAY |
| |
You wish to visit a place that is quiet, stunning and breath taking , well Camp Bay may very much interest you. It is just a gorgeous long, white sandy beach. Nothing else. Great waters, colling tradewinds, snorkeling maybe a little murky due to waters kicking up sand, but out by the reef will be just fine. Hardly anybody to be found and just the place if you don't want anyone to find you. It is at the very East end of the island, and other than a couple of small villages, Camp Bay has no amenities to speak of.
